Who should replace Tom Daschle?
Now that Thomas A. Daschle has withdrawn his name from consideration as head of the Department of Health and Human Services there is a lot of speculation about who should be next in line. This Washington Post article asked several political observers their thoughts on who can best help President Obama push through health care reform. SCHIP bill gets the green light
By a 290-135 vote, the House approved legislation expanding the State Children's Health Insurance Program by approximately $35 billion over the next five years. The bill will add roughly 4 million children to the program. President Obama also lifted restrictions that called for at least 95% of poor children eligible for Medicaid or SCHIP to be enrolled in those programs before states could begin using federal funds to cover higher-income children. States covering higher-income children also had to make sure individuals were without health insurance for one year before they were allowed into the program. [Read
