Who should replace Tom Daschle? Now that Thomas A. Daschle has withdrawn his name from consideration as head of the Department of Health and Human Services there is a lot of speculation about who should be next in line. SCHIP bill gets the green light By a 290-135 vote, the House approved legislation expanding the State Children's Health Insurance Program by approximately $35 billion over the next five years. The bill will add roughly 4 million children to the program. President Obama also lifted restrictions that called for at least 95% of poor children eligible for Medicaid or SCHIP to be enrolled in those programs before states could begin using federal funds to cover higher-income children. States covering higher-income children also had to make sure individuals were without health insurance for one year before they were allowed into the program. [Read
