Physician offices will see a decade of job growth
The number of physicians, administrators, and allied health professionals employed by medical practices is expected to increase substantially from 2008 to 2018. The challenge, however, will be filling all of the vacancies as demand grows. Practices may struggle to find room in the budget to hire needed additional personnel, and if they do have the money, there's no guarantee that candidates will be available if shortages intensify. Doctors Demand Better Medicaid Reimbursements
Several major primary care physician organizations are among the 118 groups that sent a letter Tuesday to congressional leaders in the House and Senate urging them to support "equality of Medicaid and Medicare rates" for primary care services. Medicaid rates average about 66% of Medicare rates for primary care services, and for many doctors the disparity is becoming unsustainable.
