ATLANTA: Grady CEO resigns
The hunt is on for a new leader of Grady Memorial Hospital after the resignation of CEO Michael Young, a key player in saving the massive safety net hospital from financial ruin. Young accepted a position as head of PinnacleHealth in Harrisburg, PA. Young took Grady's helm in 2008 as part of an effort by a group of key business and community leaders to save the cash-strapped hospital from closing its doors by transferring it to a corporate board. The hospital will start a nationwide search for a replacement immediately, with Young staying on as late as June to help with the transition.

ORLANDO: FL Blue Cross CEO to retire this year
Robert I. Lufrano, chairman/CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF), has announced his intent to retire this year. Lufrano has served as chairman and CEO since 2004 and has been with BCBSF since 1990. Lufrano's retirement will become effective after the appointment of the new CEO, and he will continue as board chairman through a transition period. The head of Providence Milwaukie Hospital over the last three years takes over this month as CEO of Providence Portland Medical Center, one of the metro area's largest hospitals. Theron Park replaces Lisa Vance, recently named CEO of Providence Health and Services' clinical programs and community services in Oregon. Before joining Providence Milwaukie, he was CEO of Moore County Hospital District in Dumas, TX.

Louisville-based Kindred Healthcare has promoted Gregory C. Miller to chief development officer responsible for the company's growth strategy. As senior vice president for corporate development and financial planning, Miller was involved in the company's acquisition of RehabCare Group. The company also announced that in its hospital division Traci Shelton was named executive vice president for the West Region, Ronald C.
