Chicago hospital cuts the wait for mammograms Here's a story from my own back yard. Stroger Hospital, perhaps better known by its old name as Cook County Hospital, has wiped out a backlog of 11,000 mammograms after dramatically cutting down the wait time it took for women to get the breast cancer tests. Women used to have to wait up to 12 months for mammograms at Stroger, and they can now receive the tests within two to three weeks. Advanced technology is only the first step, this story reminds us.
