Hospital employees post surgery pics on MySpace I can't quite figure out why this security breach happened. Human error to blame for Grady data breach The laundry list of ways to breach security keeps growing. This time it's the passing-the-buck method. The private records of 45 Grady Memorial Hospital patients were able to make their way onto an unsecured Web site in July after Grady outsourced the job of transcribing the notes to a Marietta, GA, firm, which outsourced the work to a Nevada contractor, which in turn turned the work over to a firm in India. Study: virtual colonoscopies effective at detecting cancer A new study showing that virtual colonoscopies are effective at detecting large and medium-sized polyps that can lead to colon cancer could lead to a change in Medicare's reimbursement stance on the procedure. The Chicago Tribune reports that insurance companies haven't been willing to pay for virtual colonoscopies, citing insufficient evidence that they work. But now, Medicare is reviewing data from the new study, with an eye toward re-evaluating reimbursement, the newspaper reports. [Read More]
