Do You Have a Plan for Your ED?
Carrie Vaughan, Senior Editor-Leadership

I've heard of acute-care inpatient units tailored for elderly patients with hand rails and nonslip flooring. Some even have in-room refrigerators to help patients stay hydrated and additional furniture for a more home-like feel. But an emergency room designed specifically for elderly patients? Layoffs continue in healthcare sector
NorthShore Skokie (IL) Hospital said it would eliminate 150 full-time jobs, or nearly 14% of its workforce in the next two months. Hennepin County Medical Center is cutting 100 jobs and freezing capital spending even though demand for its services is growing. HCMC said the actions are in response to the reductions in state funding announced last month.
