Brain surgery battle reveals fierce, high-dollar competition in healthcare

Charlotte (NC) patients who need brain and spine surgery will see a change in treatment options as two of the city's oldest and most venerable health care institutions part ways before the end of this month. Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates will no longer be allowed to perform surgery at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, Charlotte's second-largest hospital, even though the institutions have worked together for 75 years.
