The National Institutes of Health have launched an investigation into allegations that the Howard Brown Health Center in Chicago may have mishandled funds associated with a decades-long study of men infected with HIV, the center said in a statement. Howard Brown, one of the country's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender healthcare organizations, severed ties this month with Chief Executive Officer Michael Cook and Chief Financial Officer Mark Joslyn. The study in question is called the Multi-Center AIDS Cohort Study, which has tracked thousands of men infected with HIV since the mid-1980s, the Chicago Tribune reports.
