Dallas-based Tenet to pay $514 million to settle whistleblower lawsuit

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. will pay $514 million to the federal government plus approximately $3 million in fees to resolve criminal charges and civil claims of a whistleblower lawsuit that involved three of its Georgia hospitals and one in South Carolina. The settlement was reached Friday between Tenet and the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. attorneys' offices for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, and the state attorneys general for Georgia and South Carolina.
