MaineGeneral Medical Center officials say they've been given the green light for their $322 million project to build a new hospital in Augusta and renovate Waterville medical center.
MaineGeneral CEO Scott Bullock said Monday that the Department of Health and Human Services has issued a certificate of need allowing the project to move forward.
The certificate requires the hospital to reduce by 34 - from 226 to 192 - the number of beds in the original proposal and to eliminate a high-tech piece of X-ray equipment.
