Methodist Hospitals’ top executive said Friday a decision on the hospital system’s future could be known by the fall. But he noted a merger is not inevitable. Methodist is in a strong enough financial position where it could remain independent for several more years, he said. “The logical business question for any board to ask in this changing environment is whether it’s better to navigate as an independent or in a partnership with another organization,” said Ray Grady, president and CEO of Methodist Hospitals.
