St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan files for bankruptcy

St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan filed its long-expected petition for bankruptcy, indicating that its largest unsecured creditor was a federal pension insurance agency. The petition for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, filed in Federal District Court in Manhattan, showed liabilities of more than $1 billion. The hospital said the bankruptcy filing would allow it to continue caring for patients as it closes, the New York Times reports.
