Blue Cross-Blue Shield CEO says insurers, Massachusetts must cooperate

William C. Van Faasen, back in the chief executive's seat at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts for only three weeks, finds himself battling state regulators over their rejection of proposed health premium hikes for individuals and small businesses. But Van Faasen says it's time for health insurers to work with state officials and healthcare providers to slow the constant rise in health costs, the Boston Globe reports. A judge has denied a motion that would have let six insurance carriers, including Blue Cross-Blue Shield, boost rates 8%-32% for the small group market.
