CIGNA Corp. is contracting with an East Hartford, CT-based home healthcare business in a pilot program to cut down on the number of hospital patients who have complications after they get discharged and need to be re-admitted a short time later. CIGNA says one in five people who are discharged from a hospital have a complication within 30 days that requires emergency care or a return to a hospital. Its 12-month contract with CareCentrix is aimed at patients in Texas, where CareCentrix manages a provider network for home healthcare.
