Parkland Memorial Hospital and some prominent UT Southwestern Medical Center doctors have been hit with another Medicare and Medicaid fraud lawsuit, according to federal court records unsealed this afternoon. The suit alleges, among other things, that "hundreds of thousands" of claims were falsely submitted for rehabilitation consultations "that were not reimbursable because they were never requested by the patients' primary care physician." The claims allegedly were submitted "under the name of teaching physicians at a teaching hospital when, in reality, only residents [doctors in training] were involved without the necessary teaching physician presence."
