Saratoga Hospital, Albany Medical Center announce partnership

Officials from Saratoga Hospital and Albany Medical Center have formed a new partnership they hope will bring a 24-hour outpatient facility — described as a hybrid between urgent care and an emergency room — to residents of Saratoga County.

Tentatively planned to open in 2012, the facility would be the first within the Saratoga Medical Park, a 140-acre plot zoned for medical uses near Northway Exit 12 that Saratoga Hospital purchased in 2006.

"Companies expect world-class services for their employees, and health care tops that list," said Dennis Brobston, president of the Saratoga Economic Development Corporation, calling the partnership essential to development at the nearby Luther Forest Technology Campus and the GlobalFoundries Fab 8 semiconductor plant.

The hospitals plan to spilt construction costs of the 30,000-square-foot facility evenly and employ about 75 physicians and staff.
