Annual report recognizes software and service organizations that excel in helping healthcare professionals deliver better patient care.

The annual Best in KLAS 2020 Software & Services report is out, and Epic rose to the top of the rankings in multiple categories, earning the title as the top overall software suite for the tenth consecutive year. Also noted for outstanding performance were the top overall IT services firm, Pivot Point Consulting, a Vaco Company, and Accenture, which was named the top overall healthcare management consulting firm.

The report was released today by KLAS Research, the Salt Lake City-based research and insights firm, recognizing the software and service organizations that excelled in helping healthcare professionals deliver better patient care in the United States. Also released today is the global version of the report, Best in KLAS 2020 Global (Non-US).

“Providers and payers demand better performance, usability, and interoperability from their vendor partners every year,” says Adam Gale, president of KLAS in a news release. “Best in KLAS winners set the standard of excellence in their market segment."

The overall software suite designation is reserved for vendors that provide a suite of products clients would purchase to address their core IT needs, according to the report. Epic outranked all other vendors in the category, which included:

  1. Epic  85.9

  2. MEDITECH C/S  77.1

  3. Allscripts Paragon  71.5

  4. Cerner  70.6

  5. Allscripts  67.6

  6. CPSI Evident Thrive 66.9

In addition, Epic was named the top overall physician practice vendor, won Best in KLAS awards in eight segments, and won category leader awards in four segments, including EMR-based interoperability solutions, where no other companies was ranked.

The report also highlights two companies for improved performance. CPSI won most improved overall software, and Cerner was cited for having the most improved physician practice product.

Two other companies were lauded for outstanding performance:

  • Pivot Point Consulting was named the top overall IT services firm "thanks to consistently strong performance across several market segments, including HIT implementation leadership (small), HIT advisory services, HIT staffing, and technical services," the report states.

  • Accenture won a best in KLAS award for healthcare management consulting, and was also named the top overall healthcare management consulting firm, with "above average performance ratings in both financial improvement consulting and strategy, growth, and consolidation consulting," the report says.

Best in KLAS is based on information obtained from the approximately 2,500 interviews KLAS conducts with providers and payers each month, according to the company. Annually, these interviews represent the opinions of healthcare professionals and clinicians from more than 4,500 hospitals and 2,500 clinics, and account for 1,200 products and services from more than 450 vendors.

A full list of winners can be found on the KLAS website.
