CEO pay is nearly $10 Million for 2 nonprofit CEOs, database shows

Compensation for two nonprofit hospital CEOs reached nearly $10 million each in recent years, according to The Chronicle's newly updated database of the compensation paid to nonprofit leaders. Michael Dowling of Northwell Health topped the list, earning $9.6 million in 2014. Of that amount, $6.5 million was in the form of "other compensation," which can include deferred compensation that was earned in previous years but not paid out until 2014. George Halvorson earned $9.8 million in compensation at Kaiser Foundation Hospitals in 2012; he retired as CEO the following year.
