Contract negotiations continue at WVU Hospitals

West Virginia University Hospitals and employees represented by the AFL-CIO Local 814 continue to negotiate as a Dec. 31 contract expiration approaches. Following a WVUH “final” offer that the majority of union employees rejected in a Dec. 17 vote, the union issued a 10-day strike notice on Dec. 21. Also on Dec. 21, the union relayed a list of demands. WVUH President and CEO Bruce McClymonds said the hospitals “stand ready to talk about those issues.” McClymonds sought in a Dec. 22 news conference to reassure the hospitals’ patient population.
