William Roe, the former senior vice president and chief financial officer of Danbury Hospital, continued to send e-mails to the hospital president after being ordered by federal officials not to do so.
After losing his job earlier this month because of alleged wire fraud and interstate transportation of stolen funds, Roe was ordered by the feds to have no contact with any witnesses in the case, including Dr. John Murphy, president and chief executive officer of Danbury Hospital.
Instead, Roe sent Murphy a flurry of e-mails on Aug. 17 and 18, according to documents released by the U.S. Attorney's office Monday.
As a result of these messages, Roe was charged Aug. 20 with federal offenses of witness tampering and obstruction of justice, as well as the state violation of second-degree harassment.
