Orlando VA Hospital problems reflect pattern of inefficiencies

The Orlando VA Medical Center languishes well behind its promised delivery date. The 1.2-million-square-foot hospital under construction at Lake Nona Medical City isn't the only VA project having problems. Across the country, many VA medical construction projects are also far behind schedule. The national situation points to a much larger problem within the department, say those familiar with the projects. Of the four VA hospitals under construction, three are more than a year behind schedule, according to U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller (R-Pensacola), who oversees the House Committee on Veteran's Affairs.
