Several members of the search committee for a new Jackson Health System CEO said they want to be sure that previous healthcare experience is not required. Political insiders have been telling journalists that Miami-Dade County Manager George Burgess and Miami City Manager Carlos Migoya are interested in the job, but neither has openly confirmed that they're interested. Jackson's new boss is likely to be offered a salary of $666,000 to $1 million, plus an additional 20% for benefits, if industry benchmarks are followed for a public system of Jackson's size, the search committee for the Public Health Trust was told. Eneida Roldan, the present chief executive, earns $665,000 a year. She has announced she won't seek a renewal of her contract, which expires May 31.
