Alabama hospital opens state's first obstetrical emergency room

An obstetrical hospitalist program, which launched last December, led to a first for the state of Alabama: Two weeks ago, Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children became the first hospital in the state to open an obstetrical emergency room. "This is the way, I believe, that obstetrics is going," said Paula Lucas, vice president of women and children services at Huntsville Hospital.
