CT Hospital App Tells Visitors Where to Go

January 17, 2017

Stamford Health's Find My Way app helps users navigate the facility, pay bills, and access the patient portal.

Stamford Health's wayfinding application has been downloaded nearly 1,500 times since it launched in October, according to a media release.

The Stamford Health Find My Way app helps patients and visitors navigate to the new 305-bed Stamford Hospital campus and find their final destination once inside the hospital.

The Stamford, CT-based health system used Connexient's Medinav mobile platform to create intuitive, GPS-driven indoor maps that provide turn-by-turn direction and location-based content within the hospital, said John Rossi, executive director of information services and security at Stamford Health.

The Find My Way app helps visitors and patients find key departments, restrooms, ATMs, the cafeteria, and elevators and stairways. It features a directory that lists departments, physicians, rooms, dining options, restrooms, and the user's saved places.

Users can explore points of interest inside and outside the hospital and find their way using the app's turn-by-turn navigation with real time positioning. The app can also point visitors to works of art throughout the hospital.

Patients can use the app to securely pay bills and access the patient portal, as well as Stamford Health's Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Stamford Hospital has extensively promoted the Find My Way app and its benefits, which helped it reach the 1,500-download milestone. For example, last week the hospital posted a video explaining the app on its Facebook page. The video has been viewed more than 350 times.

The same video, uploaded to Stamford's YouTube account in September, has been viewed more than 400 times.

The hospital encourages patients and visitors to download the Find My Way app on its parking and campus map page. In addition, the app can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
