Thankful English Florist Names Rose After Billings Clinic
The actual Billings Clinic rose won't be decided upon until after Greensitt recovers, but Duncan hopes they can find one that is meaningful to the hospital, perhaps by choosing one with the same shade of purple as the clinic logo.
"We're hopeful that it's a rose that can maybe live in some of our gardens around the campus," he says. "We have a new healing garden on our campus that has a stream running through it that has places for roses so we're anxious to plant some of the roses and think of ways we might link it to honor other people."
While Billings has received unusual gifts in the past, this is the most unique, Duncan says.
"I've been with the clinic for 15 years and we have received a multitude of donations beyond those of people writing a check or people who want to express their gratitude," he says. "Just this week we had a family who was grateful for the care we provided for their grandmother and they wanted to donate their piano. It's not uncommon for people to want to gift artwork or things like a piano, real estate, stock, bonds—but this was a first for us and very unique."
