Pain expert said pill mill doc did nothing wrong

One of the nation's leading experts on pain management testified Tuesday that a Parkland doctor, criminally charged with overprescribing pain pills and contributing to seven patient deaths, did nothing wrong. Dr. Carol Warfield, a Harvard University professor and medical doctor, was the final witness whose testimony jurors will hear in the federal trial of two South Florida doctors — the defense will rest its side of the case on Thursday and closing arguments will follow immediately. Both Dr. Cynthia Cadet, 43, of Parkland, and Dr. Joseph Castronuovo, 74, of Key Largo, told the judge Tuesday that they will not testify in their defense in federal court in West Palm Beach.
