Mercy open-heart patients warned of possible infections

About 2,600 patients who had open-heart surgery at Des Moines' Mercy Medical Center from 2012 to 2015 are being alerted that they might have been exposed to a bacterial infection. Hospital leaders said Wednesday that two such patients have been diagnosed with an infection with the germs, called Nontuberculous Mycobacteria.
