MI hospitals curb use of costly, risky heart test

Coronary CT angiography is overused as much as 15% of the time -- a costly intervention that can lead to complications, a Michigan study says. An initiative among 47 Michigan hospitals reduced inappropriate use of the test to 5% by simple measures such as educating doctors about proper use, according to a study published Wednesday in the online edition of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
