How a major hospital got healthier with big data

Charité University of Medicine Berlin, Europe's largest university hospital, found that as more and more information became available, it was not just caregivers and researchers who were affected, but the senior management processes as well. Every senior manager has ready access to data about operations, scheduling, patient care, and when appropriate, patient records. This data is not just available on desktops and laptops, but also in tablets and mobile phones. The expanded availability of information has transformed the way the hospital is managed in several ways.
