Social Security approves EHR interoperability technology

The Social Security Administration has approved the C32 Continuity of Care Document technology developed by health IT firm EHR Doctors. The technology enables an interoperable health record to be shared among organizations for purposes ranging from transitions in care to adjudication of insurance claims. Executives from EHR Doctors said the capability to generate CCDs is a critical piece of technology that will help hospitals and eligible physicians meet meaningful use requirements, which is a prerequisite to apply for payments under the Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs. EHR Doctors? CCD technology is certified for meaningful use under the Office of the National Coordinator -- Authorized Testing and Certification Body program.
