HealthLeaders News Brief, May 21, 2007
LiveData’s "visually integrated operating room" technology is being installed at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. The "VIOR" harnesses available information resources--from information systems, medical devices, surgical video, and PACS systems--to deliver a comprehensive picture of the surgical case, updated in real time. NewYork-Presbyterian will incorporates voice and video communications to deliver necessary information to the OR department.
NYPH will implement the VIOR’s "wall of knowledge" in four operating rooms located at its two major medical centers. At NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, installations will be in orthopedic and neurosurgery; and at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center installations will be in urology and gastrointestinal surgery. The installation at NewYork-Presbyterian will feature several innovations since the prototype installation at Massachusetts General Hospital and the new 21-OR facility at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
