AHIP launches certificate program for IT professionals

Information technology and business consulting professionals may now attain an industry credential demonstrating domain expertise through a new certificate program developed by America's Health Insurance Plans. Infosys, a global consulting and information technology company, is the first to offer this program to its employees. "Health insurers rely on IT to increase their competitiveness and provide better service to customers," said Eric Paternoster, head of Insurance, Healthcare and Life sciences at Infosys Technologies. "Through AHIP's program, IT professionals deepen their business knowledge and earn a badge of industry recognition. This increases our ability to help clients achieve IT-business alignment successfully."
To complete the BPA designation, students are required to take courses in customer service, the fundamentals of health insurance, and care management. In addition, they can choose electives on topics such as HIPAA, medical management, and call centers.
