Jacobs receives two contracts from Scripps Health

HealthLeaders News Brief, September 4, 2007
Jacobs Engineering Group announced that it received two construction management contracts from San Diego-based Scripps Health. The first is an estimated seven-year contract to manage nearly $187 million worth of structural upgrades for the Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and related projects. The second contract is to manage the new construction of the Scripps cardiovascular institute, an estimated eight-year, $434 million project. Officials estimate the combined contracts value at $17.4 million.

Known as the Seismic Retrofit Program, the first contract provides state-mandated structural upgrades for hospital structural safety in compliance with California law.

The second contract, for the Scripps cardiovascular institute, marks the first phase replacement of Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Plans include 108 in-patient beds, 60 intensive care unit beds, 10 state-of-the-art operating rooms, cardiac catheterization labs with the most advanced medical technology, centralized cardiovascular research labs, and a center for graduate medical education. The institute will consolidate the cardiac programs of Scripps Clinic/Scripps Green Hospital and Scripps La Jolla. It will provide advanced diagnostic and treatment options for patients with cardiovascular diseases, while also serving as a center for medical research, clinical trials, and graduate medical education.
