How to Market Employed Physicians



As physician employment increases, so should practices' marketing outreach. The idea is to get consumers and other physicians talking about the marketed practice and to fill those doctors’ plates fast, while increasing the hospital’s brand awareness.

We often hear at SHSMD and from our clients that employed physicians sometimes feel like step children in the scheme of the larger hospital marketing department. The hospital marketing department may have a different mission, or are too understaffed to give doctors enough attention. It is great to hear of a hospital that is doing a good job supporting both PCPs and specialists. The job sometimes isn't that hard, but someone's always gotta do it.

In the realm of physician marketing, I think Aurora Health Care in Wisconsin has a very strong campaign in place for patient acquisition. They have built the campaign around physician preview videos they have been using for more than a decade so you can see a variety of physicians close to home or work and learn about them before making a selection decision.
