Feeding Tube Use in Dementia Patients Linked to Pressure Ulcers
The author of a study examining Medicare claims data for hospital patients with dementia who are treated with feeding tubes says, "we have the wrong financial incentives, and those incentives are doing more harm than good."

While the data may be true, perhaps it is best to just allow the patient to die with dignity.
When dementia has advanced to a point where nutrition is compromised wouldn't it be more responsible to at least enter into the discussion of the use of Hospice. My view of Hospice is that it promotes safety, comfort and ensures the greatest quality of the life they may have left.
