Featured speakers
Michael Davis, is executive vice president at HIMSS Analytics. Mr. Davis has 30 years of healthcare experience. Prior to joining HIMSS Analytics, he held the position of managing vice president of Gartner's Healthcare Research & Advisory Service. He has managed clinical departments in healthcare organizations and has held product management and director positions with Micromedex/Thomson, American Express Health Systems Group, First Data Corporation, and Motorola. Mr. Davis has published two books and more than 150 research articles on computerizing healthcare information. He has extensive experience with the design, development, implementation, and management of healthcare IT systems. He holds a master of science degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and a Master of Business Administration degree from Pfeiffer University.
Joel N. Diamond, M.D., F.A.A.F.P, is a partner at Diamond, Fera and Associates family medicine in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Diamond implemented an inpatient electronic health record, including 100% adoption of Computerized Physician Order Entry, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, St. Margaret Memorial Hospital. This was one of the first successful community hospital installations in the United States. He also serves as the electronic health record liaison to the UPMC Health Plan. Dr. Diamond is well known throughout the healthcare industry as an authority in the areas of EMR implementation and physician engagement, as well as strategic planning and patient safety improvement. In addition to being a partner in Diamond, Fera and Associates, he is president of Associates in Technology, a professional services firm that assists healthcare organizations with clinical information technology, specifically EMR.
John Harvey, MD is medical director and president of the Oklahoma Heart Hospital, a 78 bed heart specialty hospital. Dr. Harvey completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Oklahoma, followed by a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He is a founding member of Oklahoma Cardiovascular Associates, a 40-person cardiology group based in Oklahoma City. He was instrumental in the implementation of a paperless medical chart since the opening of the hospital in 2002.
