An infusion of nearly $100 million in upgrades is coming to CMC in one of its largest capital investments in history. After years of losing money and struggling to stay afloat, CMC is now part of HCA Healthcare, which has promised to invest in the 330-bed hospital, which was founded on Manchester's West Side in 1974 and has a legacy dating back to 1892.
Two people are dead after a shooting involving police officers at INTEGRIS Health Enid Hospital. Shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, officers with the Enid Police Department responded to a domestic issue at a residence near E. Walnut Avenue and N. 12th Street in Enid. Police had identified an adult male suspect who had come to the hospital, where officers said they'd found the suspect's vehicle. "When they tried to make contact with the suspect outside of the hospital doors, the suspect fired at the officers and then he made his way inside," police said. The man fired multiple shots while inside the hospital. A hospital security guard, J.W. Bode, 72, was hit and later died from his injuries.
A New York man has been charged with cyberstalking a family member of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, allegedly leaving threatening voicemails that expressed glee about the insurance executive's killing, federal prosecutors said Wednesday. Shane Daley, 40, is accused of placing multiple calls to Thompson's family member after the shooting, justifying the killing and saying that the person deserved to die in a similar manner, according to a criminal complaint.
Mission Health and HCA Healthcare have announced a settlement in an antitrust lawsuit filed by a group of regional towns and counties. The lawsuit, initially filed in 2022 by the City of Brevard, was later joined by the City of Asheville, as well as Buncombe and Madison counties. In the suit, these municipalities – the plaintiffs – allege that anti-competitive practices took place after HCA Healthcare's acquisition of Mission Health.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has relaunched its investigation into patient safety at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, after the union representing nurses complained the for-profit hospital was no longer following the corrective plan stemming from the original investigation. Additionally, the hospital now is embroiled in a whistleblower lawsuit filed on behalf of Carla LeBlanc, a former Saint Vincent nurse who was fired on May 1, over comments she made on a podcast about dire patient conditions.
