NORWALK — Nuvance Health wants to end inpatient mental health services at Norwalk Hospital, shifting its focus to intensive outpatient care and referring others to Danbury Hospital for inpatient treatment.
The battle between MetroHealth and former CEO Dr. Akram Boutros, who was fired last month amid allegations of misappropriation of funds, continues to escalate. On Thursday, Boutros filed a second lawsuit against MetroHealth, including its Board of Trustees, Board Chair Vanessa L. Whiting, and Vice Chair J.B. Silvers. Boutros is suing MetroHealth for breach of contract, defamation, wrongful termination, and civil liability for criminal acts related to retaliation and intimidation.

University Hospital could announce its new president and CEO next week at its regularly scheduled board meeting, the board's chair told NJ Advance Media. For months, the Newark, New Jersey hospital has been searching for a permanent replacement for Dr. Shereef Elnahal. Last spring, the former state health commissioner was nominated to be undersecretary for health at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
