Syracuse, N.Y. – Upstate University and Crouse hospitals were criticized at a public forum Thursday night for trying to evade federal scrutiny of their proposed merger, aggressively suing patients for unpaid bills and not sharing enough information with the public about the merger.
The CEO of Frisbie Memorial Hospital laid out a new plan to deal with declining birth services at the hospital for the City Council Tuesday night. Tim Jones talked about the hospital's decision to discontinue birth services at Frisbie, and the potential intervention by the New Hampshire Attorney General's staff into whether or not that decision violates the agreement reached when HCA took over the former non-profit hospital.
Moffitt Cancer Center said Wednesday it plans to build a treatment facility in southern Hillsborough County. Moffitt aims to buy about nine acres of land in Ruskin to build a 75,000-square-foot facility just west of Interstate 75, and the deal is expected to be completed by November, according to the nonprofit. The land also must be rezoned.
Ascension Michigan has named Dr. Thomas Rohs as president and CEO of the health system's southwest region, overseeing hospitals in Kalamazoo, Plainwell, Allegan, and Dowagiac, as well as other care centers across the market. Rohs succeeds former regional president Peter Bergmann, who had led the market for Ascension since 2019.
