Workers from several Los Angeles County nursing homes kicked off the first of a series of protests claiming severe understaffing and high turnover are undermining patient care. Employees at the facilities — owned by Brius Healthcare and operated by Rockport Healthcare Services — are represented by SEIU Local 2015. They plan to hold eight pickets over the course of three weeks in July, including Thursday’s protest at Centinela Skilled Nursing & Wellness Centre West in Inglewood.
Nursing homes that fail to adhere to the minimum staffing standards in any quarterly period face civil penalties of up to $2,000 per day that they are out of compliance. DOH will provide an opportunity to nursing homes that receive a notice of non-compliance to (i) request a redetermination if an error occurred in the assessment; or (ii) apply for a penalty reduction if the nursing home is able to demonstrate that certain mitigating or aggravating factors are present.

The award is given in recognition of significant contributions to the home health industry in Mississippi. The award is named after two Mississippi home health pioneers — Dudley Westbrook and Fred Rogers — to honor their memory and commitment to the home health patients of the state.
Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Bartlett Regional Hospital announced that the agreement to acquire Wildflower Court is completed and Wildflower Court is now part of the Bartlett health system.
The state is requiring long term care facilities to meet a minimum number of nursing assistants in each shift for the first time. Beginning July 1, the Pennsylvania Department of Health will require all long-term care facilities to meet a new standard for the hours of direct care each nursing home resident receives. Facilities will be required to provide 2.87 hours of direct care to each resident daily, up from the 2.7 hours of daily direct care they currently need to provide.
The skilled nursing facility is under new management and has been going through a series of upgrades. Aside from the 15,291-square-foot expansion of the existing structure, increasing it to 134 beds, planned upgrades to the site include new paint, a new metal roof, doors and screen walls, and courtyard improvements.
