The Palo Verde Healthcare District has filed for bankruptcy, citing it a necessary step in stabilizing financial struggles and preserving services at Blythe's at-risk-of-closing hospital. The move comes a week after the district board authorized voting for relief under Chapter 9 bankruptcy. As of Wednesday, Oct. 1, the district had less than six days of cash on hand, or approximately $430,000 in unrestricted funds. Michael Rose, interim chief financial officer, said during Wednesday's board meeting the district had enough cash to cover payroll.
