Concern is mounting for Pratt residents as its local hospital is in default; however, Pratt Regional Medical Center claims 'it is not' defaulting in a statement, despite owing the county nearly 1.6 million dollars. Pratt Regional Medical Center has been in the process of creating a short and long term plan to stabilize the hospital for over a year; hiring a consulting firm to create that plan which the hospital says requires financial resources the hospital does not have. The hospital said '[It] requested authorization from Pratt County to pledge certain unencumbered assets to secure a loan that would allow us to begin implementing additional parts of that plan.'
