When Heights University Hospital, formerly Christ Hospital, closed in November 2025, its owners said they would continue operating a standalone emergency department. Hudson Regional Health, which took over the hospital and two others from CarePoint Health System in federal bankruptcy court, said it invested over $100 million into the Jersey City hospital in an attempt to keep the doors open.
