The Louisiana Emergency Response Network says it’s concerned that fewer people experiencing heart attacks and strokes are visiting hospitals due to the coronavirus pandemic. LERN leaders said they have peer survey evidence of a decline of hospital activations for these conditions that coincides with the onset of COVID-19. In a news release Thursday, they said it is “the result of understandable but ill-advised reluctance to seek immediate care due to worries and fears created by the COVID-19 pandemic rather than fewer of these events occurring.”
