NJ doctor loses appeal challenging $20 million prenatal malpractice ruling

A doctor at Overlook Medical Center has lost his appeal in a medical malpractice lawsuit brought after one twin was born birth defects. The father, Metuchen police officer Octavio Tapia, and the mother, Maria Tapia, filed the lawsuit on behalf of their daughter in 2015 against the hospital and doctors. The case resulted in a $20 million jury verdict in Superior Court in Union County.
