Cases of the West Nile Virus are surging nationwide and in Missouri. West Nile Virus is carried by mosquitoes and can cause serious, even fatal, illness in humans and animals. As of October 9, 2025, Missouri is seeing a significant increase in cases compared to previous years. Three people have died of West Nile Virus, and 15 others are hospitalized.
