UPMC Hamot saw higher-than-expected mortality rates in 5 categories

UPMC Hamot continues to post significantly higher-than-expected patient mortality rates in multiple medical conditions, according to a newly published statewide report. Erie County's largest hospital saw increased mortality rates for patients in five categories: stroke, heart failure, kidney and urinary tract infection, back problem — medical management, and pneumonia — aspiration.
