U.S. COVID levels may be peaking, CDC data show

COVID-19 appears to be peaking in many parts of the country amid low respiratory illness activity overall, according to the latest respiratory illness update from the CDC. Nationally, the CDC's COVID-19 surveillance data show test positivity for SARS-CoV-2 is 10.8%, down from last week's peak of 11.6%. But the percentage of emergency departments visits diagnosed as COVID-19 rose slightly, from 1.5% to 1.6%, and are elevated in children ages 0 to 4 and 5 to 17 years.
