Striking Henry Ford nurses barred from crossing picket line to aid church shooting victims

Nearly 750 registered nurses at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc were on strike Sunday when violence erupted just a couple of miles away at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

They reportedly were told they couldn't help.

For weeks, members of the Teamsters Local 332 have been on the picket lines, striking after contract negotiations broke down. They are seeking a new labor contract with better nurse-to-patient ratios and better working conditions.

When gunfire and flames engulfed the church on the morning of Sept. 28, several nurses took to social media to report that they were turned away when they offered to cross the picket lines and help at the hospital.
