Now a 'hospital-like' facility, McAllen convention center begins taking COVID-19 patients

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott visited the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas on Tuesday for the third time in three weeks just as the first COVID-19 patients were admitted into the McAllen Convention Center, which has been converted into a “hospital-like facility” to free up local hospital beds as the region surpassed 1,000 coronavirus deaths.
